The Outlaw Pontiac Nationals at Cecil
County Dragway have been cancelled for 2008. The increased fuel
costs, coupled with tough economic conditions have significantly
impacted racer and spectator participation at events across the
motorsports world. After in-depth discussions with Jim Halsey about
additional avenues to generate the necessary revenue to promote and
pay for this years event, we have decided it is in the best interest
of all concerned to not hold the event for 2008.
We realize many folks will be
disappointedly with the loss of this years festivities. However, our
decision came after careful consideration of all the factors. They
include, low event participation at other Pontiac events this year as
well as weekly races and special events at Cecil County. Add the
significant economic impact weather played in the last 2 years has
left me less than comfortable with our ability to cover the track
costs let alone the purse.
Again, I am sorry we had to cancel the
race. We hope to return to our normal schedule in 2009.
